Believe in yourself.
Confidence in yourself is to take the first step to success.
I would call them J and V.
They started to live in Taiwan from this semester.
I thought to move to a new country really needed to have great courage.
Lots of things needed to handle, to deal with.
Even when you wanted to order some noodles, and the vendor couldn't understand English.
Even when you thought that you could speak a little Mandarin, and the vendor still couldn't understand.
That's really frustrating.
I mainly helped J and I really felt that I had such a pleasure to work with him.
Because I was an undergraduate student, I don't know how to do lots of things.
What I could do was to ask my senior sister, and tried to get started as soon as possible.
My first work was to translate three documents.
I still remembered when I finished a part of the translation, my boyfriend said they were lots of mistakes.
He taught me how to modify. He accompanied me to complete part of the grammar.
When I handed over my translation to my boss, we modified most of the words because writing regulation was not like usual writing. (I thought)
I laughed my boyfriend later. =)
At that time I knew that J had been as a deen in America for 7 years.
He said he had written many regulations before, so he was good at it.
We worked together a whole afternoon. We finished the works and he told me I did a good job.
You were smart.
I said no with a smile.
I thought that when Taiwanese were praised, we would say NO in Mandarin. Just to be modest.
So I was shocked that he asked me why I answered NO.
Didn't you try your best? Didn't you have intentions?
I knew I took my time to finish it, the answer definitely was YES.
Why would you say NO?
I didn't know it actually.
But I said maybe that was because when I was a high school student, my grade was high in my class.
But when I entered college, everybody came from a good high school.
They were really smart. I thought that I had no confidence to say I was smart.
He told me he had worked with lots of people. He understood people.
He said many words to let me feel confident.
Only you knew how much efforts you did in your work.
What I learned from this class -to believe in yourself.
